Julie S (Just passing through...)

Mr D., well done you!

I don't think its the weight of the chain that'll kill you. The normal problem with wearing the stuff for any length of time is heat exhaustion. Assuming you've got a suitably padded jack underneath, you're all nice and toasty and wrapped in metal. Then step out into the sun and run around for a few hours waving a big axe. smiley - erm

*waves a cautionary finger at Mr D.*
All I can say is, please, please make sure you drink enough water and retire to the shade on occasion... Else I'm going to have to tell Mrs D.!

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am...

Don't worry Julie... I'll be good and drink water and keep to the shade wherever possible.

The biggest problem is that the chainmail will (assuming it's done in time) probably be getting its first outing at Belgariad in July!

kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013

Sounds great Marv smiley - magic I'm still struggling to get to grips with the horrible automatic car we've just bought. It is a mondeo and driving it has been described as like driving an armchair - think that gives an accurate impression of how little you can feel what the car is actually doing. Has the turning circle of an ocean liner too. meh, I wanted the Audi S4 estate, but unfortunately it would have been about 15k more to buy. Don'tcha hate it being so *sensible* smiley - groan

dElaphant (and Zeppo his dog (and Gummo, Zeppos dog)) - Left my apostrophes at the BBC

My house was built in the 1920s, I'm not sure when exactly but I think it was the second half of the decade. Apart from the kitchen and the bath, not much has been done to it. I'm the 3rd owner in the last decade, the previous owners bought the house so their son would have someplace to live while at university, they rented rooms to other students and the house suffered as a result. I still haven't replaced the missing panes in the french doors, and really I need new doors.

Have fun in your car Marv.

It's snowing here. smiley - grr

Nice Marv. Is this a big bucks purchase?

GDZ, when in spring does the snow usually stop in your part of the world?

Good question Phil. Back when our weather patterns were somewhat stable, it would stop snowing around this time. But in recent years our weather patterns have been pretty screwy, there's no telling anymore.

It's no longer snowing here and has warmed up considerably over the last few days (it now seems to be keeping above freezing) so down comes the rain.

Erm, I don't know how old the house is. I should find it out and I need the building drawing anyway, when I start the renovation in my flat.

Kerr, a dust devil is a tiny tornado. The really little ones, you can stand in the middle of them and just get pelted with grit. The larger ones can really rearrange a place, but they don't do structural damage (unless the roof is, like mine, actually ready to fly off).

Winds are down to 25 mph this morning, they say; I can't tell any difference, especially when the gusts hit. I just noticed that the cottonwoods down on the Bonito have started to green up, and our apricot is in bloom. My plum trees are holding back, and the apple looks completely dormant. There are some cherry trees in town that are in full flower, and residents are shaking their heads. Even assuming there's no further frosts -- and there's a fresh sprinkle of snow on Sierra Blanca -- in these winds no bees will come around to pollinate.

OK. Which one of you performed the rain dance for us???? smiley - biggrinsmiley - laughsmiley - applausesmiley - somersault SNOOPY DANCE!!! It's raining! Yaaaaayyyyy!

Several years ago, we had what was described as an inland hurricane--straight winds up to 120 mph, heavy rain, hail all falling and blowing at once. It lasted about 30 minutes and did a bunch of damage. After seeing the devastation in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas last fall, I think we got off easy!

Today is cold, snowy, sunny, and rainy all at the same time--typical March weather in Montana.

Phil, it's just old enough that the worst part of it's depreciation has passed. It's still got the warranty on it and is immaculate. The prior owners loved that car I can tell.

I am shooting for the weekend for piccies of it. I am planning (tentatively) to drive to the beach this weekend when it will be 80 here... I miss summer and warmth. Perfect top down weather.

We had a bit of rain overnight. Not nearly enough, but I'm thrilled to get it.

Congratulations on the car, Marv. WooHoo! I'm already planning what to wear when you take me for a ride this summer. One of those long scarves to blow our behind me of course, dark shades will be a must, capris....smiley - diva

Teuchter

Maison Teuchter started life as a humble wee bungalow in the 1930s - avec outside cludgie.
Various bits have been added at different times - including two upstairs extensions in the 70s which were designed by Heath and Robinson - and built by Bodgett and Scarper.

From a totally selfish point of view - the best solution for us would be to sell out to developers who want to put 200 houses in the field behind us and demolish our house to use the land as an access into the new estate smiley - sadface
Main problem is - we like our neighbours and this would be really awful for them.

smiley - cool car, Marv.
