Hello again thingy and nice to meet you Sixsevens.
No1 son has only 4 more weeks at Uni in Wales once we take him back next weekend. I don't think he is going to miss it
I shall miss the drive though, the M4 has featured throughout its existence in my life, the A4 before that.
Had a pleasant walk along the river this morning, sunny but chilly wind. More waterfowl trying to ignore the calls of Spring, lots of cheerful dogs with polite owners, even some the other way round. There was even a bloke in a canoe on the water.

*comes in from apartments* Good morning all! I heard a remark made about machinemade brews and was about to object that Matina does our coffee the turkish way... and then I remembered that she's a bot.
Good meeting with clients last night; I really must look into business cards and brochures. The clients who'll be here this afternoon actually drove to Lincoln and inquired at the post office to find me.
Regarding blue vegetables and whether they're purple, I've been studying pigments a bit, and I looked around the web, but I couldn't find anything about the phytochemistry of blue corn. Historically, the main ~organic~ source of blue pigment was indigo (aka woad in the north) and since the 70's we've had the quinacridones. I think it's these new pigments that relate to the colour in blue corn but I'm not sure.
And I think all the other kinds of blue are inorganic and poisonous (like the pthalocyanines and lapis lazuli).
I did learn that the quinacridones are so lightfast and reliable that they are used for painting Ferraris. And that prussian blue was invented in 1705.
And now I need some tea.

The Scots would rub woad on their faces when they entered battle... just like in braveheart
I Actually like machinemade eats... no hairs, just bits of shrapnel

Wow, Lil, that was some detective work! Julius Caesar said that the sight of blue folk, particularly bare-breasted blue women, made his troops think they were being attacked by some sort of demon, although he never said who they had been sent by!

I wonder if blue is my favourite colour due to some long lost race memory?
Actually, I quite like purple too, must have royal blood
