Annoying Situations at Buffets
Gedge :-) Started conversation Jun 26, 2000
This has happened to me over the passed week. At one working lunch I was the only vegetarian, and being polite I held back from the rush around the food table. When I eventually made my way over I found that every non meat sandwich had gone, the meateaters had eaten all the vegi options, leaving the ham, roast beef, chicken etc for their second go at the table. A couple of days later prepared after the last event, and knowing 3 other vegetarians were there I made straight for the table. Disaster NO vegi options all, even the cheese sandwiches had ham on them, when we complained the cater informed us that ‘he was not a mind reader and we should have given him 48 hours notice.’ Even though buffet was for 20 people he hadn’t thought that at least one person would be a vegetarian.

Yeah I hear you. At least buffets usually have rolls or something like that. Sometimes I have to go to formal dinners where they serve everyone the same thing and I have to call in advance to make sure they leave one meatless. Sometimes people get down right hostile about it too. I guess that's the price you pay for being a non-conformist.
