ooh cool... can I be in your gang too?
I've been a veggy for 5 years and I've been slowly trying to get the vegan thing working but it's not working as well as it might.
I've got fab vegan DMs from Brighton though smiley - smiley

Regor - the easiest way to put a link on your page is to just key in the address of the site - http://www.h2g2.com/A299315 , and the Guide will turn it into a link. There are flashier ways of doing it with GuideML, putting tags in place of the address and so on, but I haven't got around to doing it yet myself. One thing, though - don't put a comma or full stop next to the address, or this will form part of the link and stop it from working. Just leave a space after the address as I have done above and it works OK.

Generally, if you want to link to a page, just highlight the address in the navigator bar whilst in the page you want to link to, then hit CTRL+C to copy the address. Then start keying your entry wherever you want, and when you are ready to insert the link, hit CTRL+V to paste it into the text.

Hope this helps.

Wolfman, Zaphodista :X (soon to be Zarquon again, or maybe not)

I'm considering becoming a vegan too, but I don't think it's going to happen. I love ice cream too much. But I am phasing out eggs whenever possible. OK Oscar, you're in! Welcome to the H2G2 Vegetarian Society! I'll add you to the list as soon as I get a chance. Thanks for joining!

BTW, I left a post in Peta's Picks yesterday, but I'm still waiting for her to put it on the front page. I emailed her about it 2 or 3 weeks ago, and she said she'd do it, but I guess there's a policy for how long a link stays on, so I'll just have to be patient. It looks like we're finally getting a following anyway. I need to expand the HVS home page, but I'm a little busy right now, so I'll have to put it on hold for a few weeks. I'm thinking of adding links to all vegetarian related h2g2 articles. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

OK Oscar, I added you to the list. So you are really on the h2g2 staff? That must be a pretty cool job. Glad to have you on the team!

Good idea! I'll try to do that when I get a chance, but I can't guarantee that it will look presentable. I've only made one banner before, and it's pretty basic, but I'll try. Do you know what the standard dimensions are?

OK, count me in. Then I can get on my soap box about the following exchange that that drives me up the wall:

Me: 'I'm vegetarian'
Other: 'Do you eat fish?'
Me: 'No, I'm a vegetarian'
Other: 'Oh, because my friend whose vegetarian eats fish'
Me: ' Aaarrrggghhhh!!!!' Runs screaming from the room.

I'll admit it *may* be easier to say you're veggie than explain that you don't eat meat but you do eat fish/shellfish etc. but it still bugs the hell out of me that this sort of confusion gets propogated.

Right, I'm off my soapbox now and looking forward to more lively exchanges smiley - smiley.

Yea, we're finally on the front page! I guess that means I'm going to have some work cut out for me, but that's ok. Hello BluesSlider! Welcome to the H2G2 Vegetarian Society! I'll add you to the list.

hello, gladly I would like to join this group. Also I would put a link on my page when I work out how to do it and when I stumble about anything I would think I could put down there (got a writer´s block).

Hi. I'd like to join, but BluesSlider has to promise not to scream and run out of the room if I do.

Please count me in, too. Perhaps there might be a support group of sorts for people with non-vegetarian spouses....

Aw, Lux, don't tell me you're a fish eater. Heck, even if you are, come on in smiley - smiley we may be able to persuade you to give it up smiley - smiley, or at least stop you calling yourself vegetarian. I reckon demi-vegetarian is a good name. I don't have anything against people who eat meat or fish, it's a personal choice thing, it's just the confusion caused by what is a factual mis-use of the term.
