Just a couple of beers....

Post 1

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

Having almost, but not quite made it to the pub this evening (reanranged for tommorrow night, when I'll visit the RL best beer pub in Cambridge nowday smiley - drool who do some fantastic dark beers and porters ).
I opened a couple of bottles of random ales from my recent tesco grocery shop.
First up was Adnams East green.
I'm from Suffolk, Adnams is the* local brewry (though other microbrewerys including the most eastily brewery in teh UK are closer the house there)...
Never come accross this one before, it must be a new brew.
First thoughts is that it smelt really good, it just smelt well balanced and even (I've borrowed a friends nose for the weekend).
Mmm.
Well it lasted about ten minutes so it goes down quite nicely.
A really rounded 'beery' beer, Which if anythign supprized me a bit, I'd have thought they'd aim for somethign really* differnt with a new beer, either really hoppy or really dark flavoured... this is a good , no really good rounded beer that'd be equally well suited to drinking slightly chilled at a BBQ, or just out in the summer during the day, or equally knocking back by the dozen in an evenings shift at the local... Not seen it on at any pubs yet though.
44/5.

Hobgoblin.
Unusally for me, this came out of the fridge, whereas the Adnams was off the top of the kitchen cupboard and so at ambient room temp.
Actually this works quite well cold....
Damn, I forget just how much I like this beer. More.... err.... distinct than the adnams in many ways.
Mmm. I may have to have another.
4.5/5 smiley - drool

Are we heading to think about another night one time soon or are we'all too busy still smiley - wah
ya know we've many fine real ale establishments in this little backwater of Cambridge, I ought try force some of yos over here for an RL tasting session in the locals near me some time smiley - cheerssmiley - alesmiley - stout

I've almost caught up with everything. I also still have all those porters, though they are starting to look very tempting...

It's summer holidays. You name the date and I'll come and taste.

Meantime, I've found another supply of Marston's Connoiseurs Collection (qv, somewhere), so have several cases in my kitchen.
