MMF - Keeper of Mustelids, with added P.M.A., is now in a relationship.

Well done B'Elana, a very good entry.
The nitpick, and you know I hate doing this:

>>So now you've got an idea about<<
That's an overview of

>>could reproach them<<
could criticise them

>>(hot chocolate with rum and whipped cream (optional), elsewhere known as Lumumba)<<
Not sure about the preferred style of double-use of parentheses?

>>Take some North Frisian islanders, an occasion<<
Give some North Frisian Islanders an occasion

>>But no real baptism without some alcohol, so the cheeky farmer had an idea: he mixed rum with sugar, poured hot coffee on the mixture, and put whipped cream on top, which prevented the rum from evaporating and giving this neat trick away through the aromatic smell. The reverend just got plain coffee with the whipped cream on top.

But no true baptism was complete without some alcohol. The crafty farmer overcame this problem with the idea of mixing rum and sugar, pouring coffee over the top, and then adding whipped cream to prevent the rum from evaporating This was also a sneaky way of hiding the aromatic smell of the alcohol!

>>Before we start making our own Pharisäer,<<
Before you make your own Pharisäer,

>>the subjective impression that it warms from inside, the effect is quickly reverted. Alcohol widens the blood vessels, resulting in warm blood from within the body flowing to the outer regions like hands, feet, and face, 'making' them warm, however, this warmth soon gets lost to the cold surroundings.<<

the Impression that it warms from inside, the effect is quickly reversed. Alcohol distends the blood vessels, resulting in warm blood from within the body core flowing to the outer regions like hands, feet, and face making them warm. However this warmth takes heat from the essential organs causing hypothermia and may result, ultimately, in death.

and use it as you wish!

Yes, they were, and that's why they are associated with hypocrites here. Do you think I need to mention it and risk having religious people bashing me? smiley - erm

I've added a bit about the biblical Pharisees.

MMF, thanks for your suggestions. smiley - cheers

I haven't changed that, it seems to be two different things to me.

smiley - stiffdrinkNot sure about the preferred style of double-use of parentheses?smiley - stiffdrink

Not sure myself, I'll leave it for others to decide.

smiley - coffeeTake some North Frisian islanders, an occasionsmiley - coffee
smiley - stiffdrinkGive some North Frisian Islanders an occasionsmiley - stiffdrink

Again, I feel that this is different from what I want to say, so I've left it for now.

smiley - coffee>>But no real baptism without some alcohol, so the cheeky farmer had an idea: he mixed rum with sugar, poured hot coffee on the mixture and put whipped cream on top, which prevented the rum from evaporating and giving this neat trick away through the aromatic smell. I don't think that cheeky and crafty are the same thing, so I left that and changed the sentence to:

But no true baptism was complete without some alcohol to celebrate the baptised; so the cheeky farmer had an idea: he mixed rum with sugar, poured hot coffee on the mixture, and put whipped cream on top, thus preventing the rum from evaporating and giving this neat trick away through its aromatic smell. smiley - biro

Alcohol distends the blood vessels, resulting in warm blood from within the body core being diverted to the cold outer regions like hands, feet, and face, making them warm. However, this warmth soon gets lost to the cold surroundings. smiley - biro

I didn't mention the hypothermia bit, cause I feel I cover it in the following sentence.

Bel, the centilitre is an almost unknown unit in the UK. Could I suggest you change the 8cl to 80ml and the 2cl to 20ml.

at the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein -> *on* the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein

You can get round the awkward double-use of parentheses problem by:
(hot chocolate with rum and (optional) whipped cream - elsewhere known as Lumumba)

Could you add at the beginning of footnote 4 the translation 'Oh you Pharisees'

Nice entry btw smiley - towel

English and its prepositions. smiley - groan I initially had 'on', then thought it was probably wrong, so changed it to 'at' smiley - laugh

Centilitre isn't exactly a common measurement here, its usage is more or less refined to measuring small amounts of alcohol, so you'd not get 20ml of rum, but 2cl. I'll change it, though.

>>You can get round the awkward double-use of parentheses problem by:

Ok, so maybe the position of 'optional' is wrong(?), but your suggestion still leaves me with parentheses within parentheses. smiley - erm

Ok, all done. Changed the footnote to:

>>Oh you Pharisees! This is a reference to the Pharisees in the Bible, and is another expression for a hypocrite in German.<<

Agreed, but now they are not next to each other, which is what was a bit awkward.
