Even if I can't spell drier.

Actually you can. 'Dryer' is generally preferred for the comparative adjective. 'Drier' always looks like an appliance to me.

Jolly good.
I'm such an insecure worrypot.

I love it!
I've never heard of the song or any of the people, but I enjoyed the descriptions of the people "who they were/are now" along with the subtitles.

Well I've got to leap to the defence of CCFC here and point out that although David Icke was on Coventry City's books, he never actually played for the first team. Thus suggestions that being behind a Coventry defense would be enough to drive any person to believe they were God, are ill-founded.
However the next man Richard Keys was then, and still is now a Coventry City supporter, though how this affects his knees I'm uunsure, unless he dekneecapitated himself on the notoriusly tight seating in the West Stand.

Michael Fish's broadcast was on the 15th October.

I'm not sure if I should post top this thread after reading some of the disparaging remarks made by fellow researches regarding this whole genre of entry.
Master B I have added a number of contributions about the missing links on the page itslef.
Meanwhile I'm off to do more research on the Philosophers Song to relax my political brain only once Doctor Who is over of course.
So this will not be the last one to darken peer review.

Weren't the band called 'A Tribe of Toffs'? I've got the single stuffed away in a box somewhere, I'll try and dig it out.
J. Kettley is a fan of Burnley FC, if that's of any import.

I think you'll find that the disparagement is not directed at the class of entry per se, just the application 'ad nauseam' of its particular deconstructive technique. Still I suppose when the only thing you know how to use is a hammer, everything looks like a nail

FM as a researcher with over 100 solo entries and over 100 collaboarative entries my number of entries which use the deconstructive approach are limited to a small selection of that whole. Also the deconstructive ones I do involve a great deal of research into sometimes quite diverse suject areas which are bonded my there occurance in one place not of their own making.
As the Hitchhikers Guide is an unconventional font of wisdom this technique is quite apt. I don't write for the Encylopedia Galatica!
Besides several members of the towers have commented that they like and appreciate the deconstructive entries that I have done.
Yours etc

I just think that the approach and genre of entry is well past its sell-by date. I can only speak for myself, but I'm a bit tired of reading over-reverent line-by-line analyses of mediocre songs that were best forgotten about in the first place. And I think you'll find I'm not the only one.
There are *other* ways of writing about songs, and better reasons for writing about them, such as A3477927. Still, the main reason *I* write about subjects is that I personally find them interesting and that I think other people might be interested in them as well. Rather than because I crave a Golden Badge.

There wasn't such a thing as a gold badge until me and Jimi X got ours I too write on subjects I find interesting and to answer question I myself have.

Does it really matter? If you don't like the genre, don't read the entry If it means songs like this are kept alive somewhere in internet land....
And if anyone really has the patience to write 100 entries like this good luck to them - how many months of research did this take again?
Rather this than entries like 'This is discusting'

Does it really matter? No, I suppose not, if you don't mind the same kind of entries appearing on the front page over and over again. And then the 'don't read the entry' advice will be taken by people in droves as they desert the site through boredom. Seems a perfectly plausible scenario to me, anyway.

Over and over again? What percentage of all the front page entries are this sort of thing?

0.0001%

Surely a statistically more relevant question is 'what proportion of *recent* entries on the front page are in this format'.
