A Conversation for Talking Point: Social Networking Sites

Not for me

I like my privacy - I certainly don't want my life broadcast for all and sundry to read about.
The only online forum I belong to is h2g2 & I'm pretty careful what I reveal about myself here.

Is there safety in numbers? With so many people's lives on view, is it less likely that your identity will be targeted?

How much can you believe what's there anyway? It all seems a bit sad & superficial to me, competing for the number of 'friends'. What sort of friends are they?! I prefer real life contact.
