Hypatia, this one choked me up. Seriously. I felt the pangs of that 'half life' and the sense of interminable waiting. I noted your own observation within the piece of how the person seemed to be fading into a distant, separate realm, almost physically parting from members of her family who see her slipping away in little ways and in large. This poem holds that undercurrent of bittersweet that only someone who has lost a loved can taste and eventually must find ways to savor. It speaks to those who watch and wait, while their loved one does likewise, but for a different reason.
