Hi All,
Hot on the heels of my first solo entry to make it into the guide, here is an entry inspired by a conversation thread, ooh, ages ago. Information about Casey's court is thin on the ground to say the least, but I think I've scraped up enough bits to make an entry. What do you reckon?

Well I reckon there is enough material here for an entry.
You might want to move the 'Silence in Court' header down to after the first paragraph - h2g2 prefers not to start an entry with a header.
20th century -> 20th Century
1950's -> 1950s
: rats -> Rats
Stan Laurel doesn't need the quotes
Works for me

Considering there's such little information online, you've done a pretty good job. I just dug up some info from a newspaper archive - if you're interested, then e-mail me at the address at the foot of my PS and I'll send it on.
I wonder if anyone from the BBC would know more (he said loudly).

Email recieved, thanks. I've taken a look at the pages, they don't add much extra information but they do seem to confirm something that I saw on a postcard reproduction of a poster, namely that the show ran twice nightly. I hadn't put this info in before as I wasn't sure if it was normal or just at that one theatre but the page with the advert also has it as a twice nightly show so I'll add that info in when I get the chance.
Got to go now, his lordship is meowing at me 'cos his biscuit bowl is empty and there are half a dozen pheasants outside giving me the evil eye for not feeding them yet.

Unsurprisingly, I hadn't heard of this before. Do you think it's worth mentioning that it's a show earlier on, though? I was thinking it was about some real court (like the so called 'kangaroo court' I recently learned about) until you mention it in the third paragraph. I even wondered about actors being judges.

Forgot to mention, Radox - take another look at the page for March 24th 1925 - particularly the story in the first column: "Television - First Public Demonstration". Fascinating to read, and something apposite in seeing this here, as it was television which killed off music hall.

Just quoting from it:
"...this picturesque apparatus with its cardboard and its bicycle chain ..."

I agree that it would be better to mention a bit earlier what it actually is, but otherwise it looks good.
Are you going to add links at some point?

Reworded to mention the music hall origins in first paragraph.
Twice nightly show info added and some tweaks here and there.
I hadn't got as far as thinking about links yet, but yes Elentari, I will add some.
I saw the TV launch bit Icy, it almost distracted me from looking at what I was supposed to be looking at.

Strangely I thought it referred to something like a kangaroo court. Just goes to show you should ask questions.

Hey, I think I started the thread that inspired this entry. My father-in-law has a habit of describing a state of chaos, particularly in a situation or place that should be completely orderly, as being 'like Casey's Court', though the first few times I mis-heard it as 'Katie's Court', which I think is the name of the thread.
I'm glad that I've inspired an entry, though. And a fine one it is too. I'm just a little frustated the amount of info that survives about Casey's Court. Like the script, for example. But you've done a fine job despite the dearth of information around.

Yes, it was your thread that inspired this entry Geggsy.
Oh, and yes, with the lack of information around about the subject I felt like I was writing for Seinfeld.
