Any room here for a 69 year old fella who's been doing cross stitch for 14 years now?
I have done quite a lot of Lanarte pictures and now frame them myself.
I've done lots of castles and also the Tyne Bridge (I'm a geordie) and had a display in the local Tourist Information Office for about 2 years, from which I sold a number of pictures. I have a stack of them in a box in the garage now!!! They replaced them with cheap tourist trinkets and football mementoes (even Newcastle United ones - no taste at all).
My grandmother taught me to embroider, knit, crochet and do tatting, when I was aged about 7 to 11. I embroidered a few table cloths when I was in hospital for 6 months at the age of 22 - I didn't like long and short stitch!!

Woohoo welcome Jazzme, there's always room for the fellas in here, I've never tried Lanarte, I've got several Wordsworth the Cat kits waiting for me but I've got my knitting needles out now and happily knitting a bag for me, I've got 600g of denim Aran to use

Audrey is busy doing a double size crochet blanket in aran wool - keeps her knees warm in the caravan whilst she does it.

I can't crochet I've tried and I've failed, I do have a crochet hook I use it to pick up dropped knitting stitches, I've knitted a beach dress for Alex, it looks really good on her

How old is she?
I had a wool bathing costume when I was about 5 - it made me itch a bit when it was dry so I took no persuading to get right into the water.

Don't make it too sexy Reefgirl - she's too young.
Gawd knows they're grown up a lot younger than they were in my days.

I've not done much cross stitch this last week and a half as my son and daughter-in-law are here from Canada.
They go home on Thursday so I may get a bit more time then. I'll take a photo of what I'm doing and put it on the web if you would like to see it?

Will do love as soon as an opportunity arises.
Is marvin on a jumper or are you making a soft toy?

It's a soft toy, like the knitted Marvin in the film

I've got a couple of spare tickets to the Stitch & Creative Crafts at the Sandown Park show the weekend of the h2g2 meet. I managed to win a couple of free ones - but they arrived in the post two days after my mum had booked three for herself, me and my SIL.
Here's some info:
http://www.nwe.co.uk/home%20page%20tke.htm official site (rubbish)
Sites with more info - both are for the same exhibition but for different towns, so give a general idea.(sorry first one is really bad for frames and pop ups)

Is anyone interested? They can be used from 12th-15th Jan. I'm going on the 15th, and if someone wants them, can go that date and can get to reasonably near to me (Brentwood in Essex) I've got three spare seats to offer a lift there and back (only two tickets though). I'd hate them to go to waste - I'll offer them on eBay if I have to!
I'll also post this as a new conversation, and may post to Ask h2g2, after giving people here a chance to say yes.
