Short but I think it's got what it needs. Scouted from the Unedited Guide:

The Researcher formally known as Dr St Justin

Nice find, Bossel! I'd like to see a bit included about the tribute by 'Weather Report' to the bird - their track 'Birdland'.

Great entry. I think that this one is in the origonal Guide spirit: Topical, funny, full of wit, full of information. Although I don't right them well, we need more Entries like this one.

Zarquon's Singing Fish!

Don't know why I didn't look at this one earlier. Like Dr St J, I would like to know a bit more about the actual music - what tunes are associated with him.

There's a couple of typos - geniouses should be geniuses and I think the first 'bird' should have a capital letter, and a capital 'Y' for yardbird as well.

Nice entry!smiley - ok

So what do we think? Should this one get recommended as it is, or be changed around (By Bossel?) first?

As it is eligable for the FM, I think I might take a go at it. I'm a big Bird fan.

Hi there, smiley - ok

I enjoyed reading this and I agree that it should be in the guide in some form or other.

Good luck to anyone who wants to pick it up and run with it. I agree that a few tweaks would do it the world of good and you would finish up with a great entry. Personally I would think it might benefit from toning down the 'Jazz God' enthusiasm a little, but I spose it has its charm. smiley - smiley

'Bird' is one of the few Clint Eastwood (it is a Michael Caine little-known fact that CE is a long-time avid jazz fan and reputed to be a pretty decent jazz pianist himself, btw) movies I have not seen and this has reminded me that I really must. From what I hear Forest Whitaker puts in an impressive performance as the man himself and the film is quite well regarded, I think.

Anyway, minor editing aside I figure this will end up going in. Look forward to seeing a final version when it comes back for rubber-stamping. smiley - ok

Btw, are you still there Bossel? PR seems strangely calm without the Boss Man to keep things moving... Yo Boss! What's hap'nin? smiley - biggrin

Bizarre!

I already have this in my entries to edit! Maybe someone forgot to remove it from peer review?

Anyway... just for your info, I have found a few factual errors and was preparing to 'pad it out' a little to include some extra information on recordings, associates etc.

Do you think that this will detract from the 'short' factor which you all seem to appreciate? I think the Maestro deserves fuller coverage...

Go for it, Shazz!

I'll remind someone to remove it, if you like.

I think a little 'padding' would not be amiss...

Arghhh!!!

That has taken me two days to sort out... it is really a complete re-write rather than an edit!

You'll likely find a better way to express this anyway: 'combined geniouses' smiley - yuk

I would break this rather long sentence in two, placing a stop after Monk, and creating a new sentence along the lines of: 'Together they soon invented be-bop.'
