Still there - do we now have a Moderator out there who speaks at least one of the Scandinavian languages?

*tries to see something/someone in the darkness surrounding her, but fails*

Titania, I love your rebellion! Aside from completely agreeing with you on the purpose of it, I couldn't help cracking up when I read through your paroles.

Must be the first time in history that the Swedish cuisine is being used as a ramrod for the proliferation of free speech in smiley - bleep well any language you please smiley - smiley

Brændende kærlighed!

[Burning love. Well - hard to explain. It's a dish. A Danish one. Made with mashed potatoes, bacon, onions, and red beets (rødbeder)]

Hmmmmm... haven't tried that one...smiley - tongueout

...and then I think, when I look at the usual variety of restaurants in Sweden, that you might call pizza and kebab 'Swedish plain food' too...smiley - biggrin

Yep, same thing goes here - if you add "spaghetti with meatsauce" (I know, it's called Bolognese - but Danish kids don't know that...smiley - winkeye)

At least my kids favour Spaghetti alla Carbonara...! <smiley for proud Dad>

Sild! Karrysild, marinerede sild og stegte sild!

[Herring! Curried herring (ehhh...), marinated herring & (pan-) fried herring]

You know how sometimes a specific dish pops up in your head, and you can hardly wait to get home and cook, and you can't stop thinking about it at w*rk, and you get hungrier and hungrier and hungrier...smiley - tongueout<---consider this a drewling smiley!smiley - biggrin

Today, I'd like to eat

Pannkakor med vispgrädde och hjortronsylt

[Pancakes with whipped cream and cloudberry jam]

Sveedish korner

Post 32

Hmm - kinda yummy...

I must admit that I always felt that whipped cream is a bit too much with pancakes...

*listens to shocked silence*

But the "sylt" I'm all for -- though cloudberries are a bit tough to come by here. Strawberries or blackcurrant seems to be my favourites.

*starts looking silly, drooling all over his chin*

Oh, you'll have to excuse me - I can hear this piece of apple cake (it is just exactly *not* an apple pie but a cake with apples in it - hence apple cake...!)

Kaffe og kage - frem og tilbage!

[this is going to make not too much sense: coffee and cake - forward and back. But that's what it says!]

Ok, I (think I) know that you call the @ for "kanelbulla" - but lussebullar...? smiley - laugh

Anyway, I'd happily devour a large mug of warm glögg just now smiley - smiley

Vanillekranse!

[Vanilla circles...? Anyway, cookies common at Xmas time in DK, round with a hole in the middle that you're not supposed to eat!]

Sveedish korner

Post 39

Titania (gone for lunch)

Sveedish korner

Beautiful voice you have, Titania! smiley - smiley

smiley - santa... eh... SantRa! "Lusse" is/was also used for Lucia in Denmark!
