It was fantastic!
That was a pretty rough sending off though - and I did sort of want the Dutch to equalise, because it's made a real mess of group D: those are definitely the two teams from that group I'd want to see more of

Mind you, assuming the Czechs are still trying against the Germans (and let's face it, who wouldn't be?) then I can't see Germany getting more than a point, and as long as Holland can beat Latvia they'll be OK.
What about Baros' goal, though, eh?

This was easily the best game of football I have seen since Scunthorpe beat Bradford by the same score (sorry, Ormy).

Well, it seems the wheels are falling off the Dutch wagon as per usual.
ALBUFEIRA, Portugal, June 20 (Reuters) - Dutch players have told coach Dick Advocaat they did not agree with a crucial substitution he made in their 3-2 defeat by Czech Republic at Euro 2004.
Advocaat said on Sunday he did not regret removing winger Arjen Robben and replacing him with defensive midfielder Paul Bosvelt. The Czechs turned a 2-1 deficit into a thrilling 3-2 victory after the switch in the 58th minute.
"The aim was to get control of the midfield ... it wasn't the substitution that turned the match, individual errors led to the Czech goals," Advocaat said of what he called an "unhappy decision".
"I don't regret the substitution. On the bench I felt we were not controlling the match."
He tried to explain the substitution to the squad this morning. "The players had their own view, they would have liked to have carried on the way we were playing," Advocaat said.
Typical.

>>assuming the Czechs are still trying against the Germans<<
Well, I really hope they do, but they are through now: if you were the Czech manager, would you play any of your players on yellow cards, for instance? Would you seize the opportunity to rest Nedved, Poborsky, Baros etc.? I've just got a sinking feeling about that one

Except of course the local residents of downtown Lisbon...
