I had another look, and I think it should be The German Chemical Society, because the German origin was Deutsche Chemische Gesellschaft. I know it sounds odd.

On the project page there is a sentence saying: >>...aims to include the biographies and achievements of 8 German Scientists<< maybe that is waht BigAl means?

This says:

It should be 'Chemists'
