Hi HLC,
I actually quite liked your entry! Well done!
Being clueless about cars, even though I work in an automotive company, it was very interesting. The way you described the "pears" was very good.
You might think of adding some headings to add some additional structure to the entry.
Some typos:
turbo's - turbos
valve's - valves
mechnic - mechanic
economincal - economical
Kinda like - It's like
reliabilty - reliability
The first footnote is a bit confusing. You might think of modifying it somewhat.
Variable Valve Timing - is this not Toyota's spec? It should probably be in small letters if that is the general word for it in the industry.
Good work!

I liked it, it simply explains the process of the Vtech very well.
One bonus that I have always loved in the VTECH is the sound it makes,
However your title says engines, and you seem to only mention the 1.6l
The 1.8l that was in the Intergra type R was until superceeded by the Civic, the most powerful enginer in power per leter in a mass proudction car without forced induction
The 2.2l in the Prelude and Accord was a pretty imoressive effort and has a fantastic soung
The NSX's VTec - the only non-4 cylinder VTECH, sound and performance that are well in the supercar league but running costs, easy of use and reliablity were family car like
And of course the V4 in the VFR 800, the first road bike to employ VTECH
