New teeth!

On Saturday Dominic cut his first tooth and yesterday he cut his second! We are very pleased for him, but he's not himself and he's not eating that well... I've heard those homeopathic teething grains are supposed to be quite good - anyone used them with success? Also any advice about brushing teeth?!

Yay Dominic!

Teddie cut his first tooth at 5 months, and hasn't stopped since! He's now 9 months, and has just cut his 8th smiley - yikes I've never used teething grains, I rely on Bickiepegs and Anbesol. For the general grumpiness, Calpol seems to do the trick.
Don't worry about the eating, he'll be back to normal very soon! Even with 4 months of teething, Teddie has just grown out of 12 to 18 month clothes smiley - wow

Oh, and we found out about his first tooth when daddy put his finger in Teddie's mouth!

While they're so little, a clean flannel/cloth makes a good toothbrush. Just wrap it round your finger, and rub gently.

Mistdancer, that's a brilliant idea. I have bought a toothbrush, but while his mouth is so sore and sensitive, it seems a bit cruel to scrub away. He likes holding it though - it's pink and sparkly! Do you know, I love the name Teddy. Dom was nearly a Fred and I have much affection for Fred/Ted/Ned/Ed names smiley - smiley

Well, I have a Toby (Tobias) and and Edward (Teddie)! I guess I just like oldfashioned names!

Ted likes to hold his toothbrush, but prefers his spoon....even better if there's something on it! Last night, he ate his own dinner, then came up to the table in his walker and started pinching chips from us! Then Paul got up for work(night shift worker) and Ted cadged some of his breakfast too! The kid's an eating maching!!

Spoons are brilliant!!!! I'm sure it's going to be Dom's first word. He's also got an obsession with the shower curtain, he's been a bit sad and sore the last few days, but the shower curtain always cheers him up. (friendly faced teddy bear, no thanks, shower curtain, hooray!) Teddy sounds like a food magpie, I always like a man who likes his food smiley - biggrin

Teddie likes the screensavers on the computer! And he likes standing up. He's started stepping by himself, so it won't be long before he's walking! All he needs is to get his balance, and he's away. Heaven help me! Time to get the playpen out, I think smiley - biggrin

Isobel has been teething for months and they still haven't come through, and Charlotte has been trying to cut her molars for nearly a month now.

When Charlotte cut her first teeth (at around nine and a half months) we used a finger brush - a soft rubber brush that you wear on your finger and is very easy to use. I found toothbrushes difficult for a while because when they're still teething they just want to chew the brush.

I did use a finger brush once, but Toby bit me so hard that he bit straight through the rubber! I think he thought it was a teether!

Teddie has eight front teeth through now, and I can see a white bump at the back, so I think he's cutting a molar already smiley - yikes

Aren't molars supposed to be quite tough?

It turns out that Dominic had an ear infection as well as teething, so bad that he got a perforated eardrum smiley - cry but we didn't know because he didn't make a fuss smiley - blue Apparently it's quite common (and horrid) as the eardrum on babies is like the membrane between the white and yolk of an egg - very, very delicate. I feel terrible smiley - sadface It heals over well, though, which is a huge relief. And he's much, much better now - he's even coming in to the office today smiley - smiley

Dom says thank you very much smiley - smiley He was here only a few minutes ago and was mesmerised by Ashley's screensaver. Also whooped in the canteen and waved at everyone. So is definitely back on form smiley - biggrin

*Dom waves back and smiles at Mistdancer*
