I am triing to reference my quotes using the footnote tool if i have a number of quotes from the same source how can i make each apply to the same source. (i.e "I was feeling tired"[footnote 1] and then after running "I felt hungry"[footnote 1] (footnote1:-quoted from mary's journal 1993)

If the references to the same source are consecutive, you can simply use Ibid. for the second and subsequent footnotes. If not consecutive, you just repeat the source each time.

Each new footnote will generate a new footnote number - you cannot repeat a footnote number.

Allowing manual indexing has been discussed before, i'm not sure of the conclusion, but i think the general feeling was that it could get very confusing...

If it is not something for the Edited Guide then I have used the tag A957486 before to refer to the same footnote. It doesnt look the same and if it is next to a footnote the difference is obvious, but it is one way of getting around it.

Ibid. is short for 'in the same place'. It's good to know about, because you'll see it in textbooks and such.

I made a test page to show how it could be done, it worked reasonably well. I'll go and find it...

----

A977448 is the one, see how it's done at <./>test977448</.>. The scrolling doesn't work very well, and you can't hover over it to see it, but other than that it works.

Testing footnote 1This is footnote 1
Testing footnote 2This is footnote 2
Testing footnote 3This is footnote 3
Retesting footnote 22

also works cos it makes notes the same size!
