A spruce up of the original article. I've taken out a few of the negative paragraphs and added a couple of things myself.

the Ladykillers -> The Ladykillers
I wonder whether the cinema names should be in italics?
<> Crowned to Crowded?

Hi Vip
12th century = 12th Century
in the 1970's = in the 1970s
and you have some double-quote marks, they should be single quotes.
Oh and the cinema names shouldn't be italicised

In which case GB, should 'the Elite and the Avenue' be 'The Elite and The Avenue'?
...and the same for the other cinema names?

Interesting entry - well done!
It's not just in the studios - films are shot in locations around the borough. Recent ones include The Importance of Being Earnest (Pitzhanger Manor - see below), Bend It Like Beckham (Southall Broadway), Calendar Girls (Ramada Jarvis Hotel, Ealing Common), About a Boy(Acton Town Hall), and Love Actually(Blenheim Road/The Avenue).
Some other places to mention:
The London Motorcycle Museum, Greenford: http://www.london-motorcycle-museum.org/
The Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh temple in Southall, apparently the largest outside India: http://www.sikhiwiki.org/index.php?title=SRI_GURU_SINGH_SABHA%2C_SOUTHALL
Carry On legend Sid James' House: http://www.shadyoldlady.com/location.php?loc=650
Pitzhanger Manor is generally spelled with a z. Here's a link: http://www.ealing.gov.uk/services/leisure/museums_and_galleries/pm_gallery_and_house/history/
You might want to mention the IRA bomb in Ealing Broadway on 3 August, 2001.
Some reports at:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/1471284.stm
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/2682639.stm
http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=story_10-4-2003_pg4_4
The bombers (from the so-called "Real IRA") were eventually convicted on 8 April, 2003. They had planted a bomb outside BBC TV Centre the week before, and some think this was an aborted attack on another BBC office in Ealing, but that the bombers panicked and abandoned the car on Ealing Broadway when they encountered a one-way street near the station.
Hope this helps

Wow, thanks for that, Icy! I can't take credit for (most) of the content of the article; it's a FM rescue and was pretty fleshed out by the time the author left the building. Just tidied up and added a few bits.
Give me a little while and I'll see what I can do with this. My home computer is out use for a day or two so I can't do anything in depth to it.

Second sentence: 'a farmer settlement'. Perhaps 'a farming settlement' or 'an agricultural settlement'?

I've done the little changes, but not included any of the meaty stuff. In the next few days I'll get down to it.

Locations of other places filming has taken place: I've actually copied and pasted what you wrote Icy - it reads well and I see nothing to gain from changing it unless you disagree.
Pitzhanger Manor- changed and link added.
A new section added for exciting things, incorporating the links and the bombing. I remember it well- I was trying to get a train from Didcot to EB at the time! I had to get off at Slough and catch a slow train that was being diverted along old goods lines. I've added a small footnote to that effect but I'll happily take it out if you think it incorrect.
I've read the Wikipedia article and realised that there aer quite a few bit that are similar. I don't know which came first.

Vip Posted Sep 1, 2007
I've created a new sentence after 'buildings' rather than add another comma, but that sentence needed looking at so thanks for pointing it out.
All corrections done, thanks h5ringer.

Good work
the borough of Ealing is the third largest in London. - After which others?
The name "Ealing" is derived --> The name 'Ealing' is derived
standard spelling in the 19th century. --> 19th Century
The Church of St. Mary --> St Mary
from the early 12th century --> 12th Century
When the first maps were made in the 18th century --> 18th Century
stretching out from the road, now replaced by buses - This needs rewording, as it makes it seem like the road has now been replaced by buses
since it became a public park are children's play area --> are a children's play area
It has recently been saved by local residents who campaigned against the council after they closed the area, saying it was too expensive to look after the animals and maintain the enclosures. - This needs rewording as it sounds like the local residents closed the area
The films all need to be in italics.
In the mid-fifties the studios --> mid '50s
Since 1910 films have been shown in Ealing, and at one point had eight cinemas dotted about the area --> at one point there were eight
opposite the town hall currently run by the Empire chain --> opposite the town hall, and is currently run by the Empire chain
one screen opening in 1934 as The Forum. --> one screen and opened in 1934 as The Forum.
a larger number of films in smaller screens --> on smaller screens
and in 2005 the cinema at the junction of Northfields Avenue and The Uxbridge Road. This cinema was first opened as The Kinema and then was rebuilt as The Lido in 1928. Although most recently had been used for bingo and snooker and Asian films, the building had fallen into disrepair.

and the cinema at the junction of Northfields Avenue and Uxbridge Road, the latter having been knocked down in 2005. This cinema was first opened as The Kinema and was then rebuilt as The Lido in 1928. Although used towards the end of its life for bingo and snooker and Asian films, the building had fallen into disrepair.
the large over and underground station --> the large mainline and underground station

Hmm. I keep on finding more and more flaws the more I look. I think the cinema bit is out of date, and there are a few other bits that I don't like the look of.
I think (if I can) I'm going to remove this from PR and resubmit when I'm happy with it. It's going to take some time as w*rk is suddenly up to my ears.

Cheers, Alex, all done and dusted. I couldn't find out who was larger, and from the maps I looked at Ealing did not look like the third largest (in area at least) anyway! Instead I looked out the population stats.
