A Conversation for Louise Brooks: Actress and Writer

According to SubEditors - Guide ML linking to outside picture sites is not allowed for copyright reasons.
Can anybody tell me if this correct and if so should I remove the link to the LBS Picture Galleries?

I wouldn't argue with your sub-ed, too much.
But I have had entries accepted into the guide that not only linked to outside picture sites, but linked to specific pictures!
Have your sub-ed ask a few questions of the italics.
Did you ever manage to figure out who Vargas was?

I haven't got a subeditor yet so I think I'll leave it in unless I'm advised otherwise
There should be a footnote about Alberto Vargas there.
I even found what may be his picture of Brooks on the web but since it was on a fan site it doesn't mention the model names.
Thanks for the input

Anything to help. I am a big fan of Louise' iconic image.

ok, I think this is ready content-wise
the 1 remaining thing I was considering changing was the weblinks
some could be moved into the text, others left at the end for further reading
I could also add links for Vargas, rather than use a footnote, and for the Ziegfeld Follies
Any thoughts anyone?

Also does anyone here know how to include an ampersand as part of a web address in Guide ML.
I know there is a way.
I just can't remember what it is or where I saw it

Also found some Edited Guide entries I will link to about Charlie Chaplin, New York City, and Rochester, NY
which I will link to as they are mentioned in my article.

Excellent stuff, BC!
I think it's generally Edited Guide convention to say what a person is famous for in the title, no matter how well known they are/were; so this one should probably be 'Louise Brooks - Actor and Writer', or something similar.
The way to do ampersands in Guide ML is like this: & (and it does work in weblinks).
Finally, one very pedantic point: you need double quote marks around "temper tantrums" in the Frank Thompson quote, as it's a quote within a quote.
But the main thing is, very well done!

Thanks Ormonroyd
The title could be catchier than it now is so I guess there is a reason for the convention
I knew there was a way to include ampersands
No point too pedantic, gotta get all this stuff fixed

lots more changes
more links added
most worked into main body of text
a few left as Further Reading at end of entry
I think I have enough links now

This is an interestingly written article.
Since you have mentioned Ms Brooks in terms of another comic strip, I will add that Louise Brooks is the inspiration for the character Nabiki in the manga (Japanese comics) 'Ranma 1/2' by Rumiko Takahashi.

Felonious Monk - h2g2s very own Bogeyman Posted Sep 6, 2004
A splendid entry. The only criticism I'd add is that it might be seen as a teensy bit hagiographic. She was obviously talented, but she also comes across as more than a little bit of prima donna.

Sea Change I'll see if I can find a link to that
Felonious Monk, well I am a fan
not sure if I'm the best person to provide objective criticism of her but I hope my article and the articles linked will give a picture of her, temper tantrums and all
thanks all for the input

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

very much, hopefully the 1st of many
to think I thought it was ready when I submitted it to Peer Review
I think I've learned a few things about writing for the guide along the way, not least don't be too ambitious
Congratulations - Your Entry has been Picked for the Edited Guide!

Congratulations, Blackberry Cat! A well-deserved debut success!
Yes, it's amazing how fast an Entry can grow, isn't it?
