Final Fantasy i -- the original FF for Japanese NTT DoCoMo mobiles. Has a link to a pretty thorough FAQ.
http://www.gamespot.com/mobile/rpg/beforecrisisfinalfantasyvii/index.html for BC has FAQ/walkthrough and game script links.
FF and FF2 were released for WonderSwan Color in Japan only.
I noticed there's still a link to an unedited Entry: A305524. If you want a NES link, perhaps http://www.nesworld.com/, or http://www.nesplayer.com/ , or http://www.classicgaming.com/museum/nes/ (which itself has a couple of good links at the bottom). For the SNES, the FAQ at http://www.emucamp.com/vgee/snes/snesfaq.txt is a worth a look. For PSP I use http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/ or http://psp.ign.com/articles/513/513175p1.html?fromint=1, and for DS either http://nintendo-ds.dcemu.co.uk/ (UK-based) or http://www.dscentral.net/ . (By the way, it's not 'GameBoy Dual Screen'; it's just 'DS', standing for both 'dual screen' and 'developers' system'.)
Merry Christmas.

OK, that stuff's included.
I think - caution here - that's about it. I've re-read it, changed the odd bit or two, and am now happy with it. So, unless there's a sudden news-flash to change it, I'm happy to go ahead with the Edited Guide conversion....?
Thanks everyone for all the help, and especially Jimster and of course RFJS - who did most of the finding of sites. And suggestions for improvement. Basically all of it except the finding of the actual bits put in from his source sites and actually writing it.
Cheers everyone, and Merry Christmas.

The only other thing I can suggest is adding links for the other series mentioned. I had a quick look around and came up with http://www.dragon-tear.net for Breath of Fire and http://www.gamestalks.com/directory/Video_Games_Roleplaying_S_Seiken_Densetsu_Series.html for the Seiken Densetsu series. Unfortunately I couldn't find a link for the SaGa series as a whole; as you can see, http://www.rpgclassics.com/~saga_maniac is rather, um, vacant.
And no, it is your Entry, and you're perfectly entitled to the credit for it.

I did a search for The Spirits Within... http://www.finalfantasy-spiritwithin.com/ if one overlooks the fact that the front page is in hopeless need of an update, which means there may be inaccuracies in the rest. Alternatively http://www.rpgamer.com/games/ff/affw/ffmov/ffmov.html .

Sorry to do this to you at this stage, but I just came across these. Just minor tie-ins, luckily.

And since you're not back yet...
I remembered about the FF4 Easytype/Hardtype distinctions; and a quick search produced http://www.geocities.com/arcanelore2001/articles/ff4wrong/
I don't know whether you want to mention Yoshitaka Amano (design artist for FF1 - FF6 and FF9) at this stage, but if not, maybe could be used for http://www.amanosworld.com
And you'd really better declare this Entry finished before I come up with anything else.

Apparently FF1 was published on the MSX in Japan by Microcabin; and apparently that version is extremely rare.

I'm playing through FFVIII right now. I'd be happy to help you write anything about it.
But, I'm only on the first disc out of four right now, so I don't know how much help I'll be at the moment.

Just so long as you're not worried about its entering the Edited Guide, since I at least can't now envisage entries on each individual game ever doing so. However, our project to write an Entry on each one is continuing; check LQ's space for a work-in-progress on FF9, and mine for Entries on 6 and 7 (plus a placeholder for Compilation of FF7) to get an idea of the sort of approach we've taken.
We'll need to wait for LQ to read this before agreeing anything major, anyway, although comments are always welcome. It's better for the PR thread to focus on its specific Entry, especially now it's nearly finished, so possibly a thread could be started on his space, or mine, or yours.
Thanks for taking an interest.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it, I did not spot it anyway. There was a Chocobo World download from Final Fantasy VIII for the abortative PocketStation, which was also included on the PC version of the game. It actually helped the main game as you played it and the PC version had a rather catchy version of the standard chocobo theme tune.
And you barely mentioned all the sly in-jokes between games - Dare we mention the little 'Neither Cloud Nor Squall' poem in IX (referring to 7 and 8) or the subtle re-use of music, particularly when you have to activate something to hear it?

LQ's already had to cut out some detail, so the only one of those suggestions that could really come up for a mention is the Chocobo World one. If it can be fitted in briefly.
http://www.absolute-playstation.com/api_faqs/faq19.htm as a PocketStation link? http://ffguides.telefragged.com/ff8/walkthroughs/chocoboworld.shtml or http://db.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/file/final_fantasy_viii_chocobos_world_a.txt for Chocobo World?

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

Right, I've now got time to post what I didn't post yesterday when I did the update (finished updating but had to leave before I could comment).
I included pretty much all mentioned since my last post - thanks all - excepting two things: the release on the MSX (I couldn't see where it would be appropriate or important to add that in, and anyway, I've never heard of the MSX elsewhere...) and Chocobo World. Again, I didn't see where to put it in, and it seems it's too late now - even though I didn't make a final "yes". I did put in a brief comment about injokes, although meant to check a couple of details - hope they're right after all.
Anyway, it's finally on to the next stage, so a great thanks to everyone who's commented. Also, thanks for the offer cooldrew. I have played FFVIII (it was my first, and probably second favourite so far) and should soon get the PlayStation version for convinience. I haven't actually done anything to the FFIX one for a while, and I agree with RFJS that it's unlikely we'll get any other articles on specific games through to the Edited Guide. However, I'll post a message on your personal space to discuss the idea with you.
So, finally done...well, my part. Until RFJS comes up with something new in a few weeks and I need to submit an update.

Dunno if whoever's editing this entry will check here, but if you do, a couple of things I've just found, typically enough... 1) Half my external links at the end don't work - I forgot to put "http://" at the start, and the site tries to link to internal dna pages. This may also apply to other links through the entry 2) In the section "in-jokes" (under "recurring features"), Gilgamesh's original appearance was in FFV, not VI.

RFJS__ - trying to write an unreadable book, finding proofreading tricky Posted Jan 6, 2005
Um... 'Malboro' has tended actually to be 'Marlboro', although it is widely believed to have been named after the cigarette brand, given its Bad Breath attack. I don't know whether its name has been rendered as 'Malboro' in any of the games. Sorry I missed that.
Anyway, comgratulations. Have fun, Sub-Ed.

Starting with Gigamesh --> Gilgamesh

Regarding Malboro/Marlboro - from http://www.ffcompendium.com/h/monster.shtml, it was called Molbol in 2 and 6, Malboro (without r) in 4, 7, 8, 9 and Crystal Chronicles, Marlboro (with r) in X, X-2 and Tactics Advance, and Mad Oscar/Evil Oscar in a version of 6. Odd.
Gilgamesh - I knew that. I just can't type.
Thanks for the MSX info - but as I say, I don't think it's important that that detail is included.

Messed up external links: The Games: Nintendo Entertainment System, 3rd para The Final Word on the Subject...?: FFXI oficial website, FF compendium, FF Insider, FF Online. Same problem in each case...I just forgot the "http://" at the start. Also, Seiken Densetsu link seems to have gone funny - for some reason, the link RFJS posted (that I copied and pasted the address of) was abbreviated in the text, although working in the post. The correct address is: http://www.gamestalks.com/directory/Video_Games_Roleplaying_S_Seiken_Densetsu_Series.html Oh, and I forgot the popup feature on the last link to Amano's World. However, I'm not sure what house policy is on the popups - all mine may be removed as it is.
Congratulations - Your Entry has been Picked for the Edited Guide!
LQ - Just plain old LQ Posted Jan 6, 2005
Drat, it automatically abbreviates the links. The full address is (now in two parts):

Ah... Sorry, I got mixed up. Marlboro being the name of the cigarettes. (I don't smoke.)
What a wonderful ending note.
