...except that I wouldn't qualify that statement with the word 'probably'. it IS one of the greatest stories ever, and there can be no doubt about it!
My favourite character is - I think - Treebeard, but in a different mood you'll probably get a different answer! And my favourite parts, in joint first place, are The Scouring of The Shire, and the part where Gandalf and Theoden's party discover Pippin and Merry 'sat, on the edge of rack and ruin' smoking weed and having forty winks.
