A Conversation for Talking Point - Transport
Public transport is not public transport
Bertie Started conversation Aug 10, 2007
Public transport is by its very name transport for the public.
The prices charged by the operators of the transport systems leave very little doubt that they are not for the public but for those of us who can afford to use them.
Having to play the "rail" game to get a lower priced ticket is beyond a joke.
What would the affect be if every carriage on every train was full - would the operators simply increase the price until people stopped using them?
I do a lot of hitchhiking - of course hitchhikers dont get lifts so i go as something else and it works very well.
Devon to London is between three and 7 hours. I meet many interesting and unusual people and allways have useful adventures.
If i can do it so can others -
Its interesting to see cars passing by with only one person - endless streams of them. Wouldnt it be better if they were full?

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
