I've been meaning to read 'Angels and Demons' but things have a habit of getting in the way of my books.

my mum wouldnt stop talking about them

Dr Anthea - ah who needs to learn things... just google it! Posted Feb 9, 2005
yes it is, but i dont see how it can be used to discreadit religions
not all catholic based religion thinks of jesus as remaining celebate all his life. after all he was ment to be human and as far as i know we all have desire at some point,
I really dont get why people are making such a big fuss, It dosnt affect what i beleve at all.

There's a conspiracy theory that after Jesus rose, he married Mary Magdalene and spawned a dynasty of super people, rather like the Nephillim story. They were said to inherit the Earth, and princess Diana was allegedly killed by Freemasons because she was one of the line.
Don't you just love insane conspiracy theories?

But the story of Jesus and Mary Magdeline being a couple and having children is not a new one, a band of monks in France called the Cathars believed in it as far back as the 1200's, the Knights Templar were founded to find the Holy Grail, it's not possiblr tho that they dug down to the bowels of the Temple of Soloman to find the grail as it was not physically posible, but take into count that the winners write the history books. and what about the Gnostic Gospels?

Apollyon - Grammar Fascist Posted Feb 10, 2005
Ah yes, the Gnostics. 'God' is evil, and Jesus is an Aeon from the world of light come to show us how to escape from this very evil Universe. A bit like a rebellious teenager, then.
And what about the conspiracy of the Grail actually being the bloodline of Jesus? This one at least is relatively plausible.

Reefgirl (Brunel Baby) Posted Feb 10, 2005
It could be very plausible, Jesus would have stuck out like a sore thumb in Palestine during that period if he wasn't married and did God actually say anywhere that his son had to remain unmarried and I often wondered where Marin Scorsese got the idea of Jesus dreaming of Mary Magdelene on the cross from. Have you read Angels and Demons that was a very scarey thought

Also plausable is that Jesus has siblings because Mary had to fulfill her wifely duties to Joseph.

I think the programme on finding the de vinci code was pretty good at showing the aspects of the book that made it so popular. I mean the last supper does have the very camp man next to jesus.
Im not sure what would happen though if it was ever proven. I mean, theres some pretty big ramifications

Reefgirl (Brunel Baby) Posted Feb 12, 2005
If the theories were proved true then the worlds biggest religion is based on a lie, how much bigger can that be
Magicians Guild Announcments
Scandrea Posted Feb 12, 2005
Not necessarily based entirely on a lie- He's still the Son of God, and still telling us not to kill each other.
I've often wondered what happened after the Resurrection, myself.
In any case, there are references to Jesus' brothers and sisters, but it's never quite clear if they were Joseph's from a previous marriage, or what.

Reefgirl (Brunel Baby) Posted Feb 12, 2005
I'm pretty sure his brothers and sisters are mentioned in one of the Gospels and I'm sure one of his brothers was caled James, Mary Magdeline may have very well gone to France but (I'm trying not to spoil anything here) not with the cargo mentioned in the book

Yeah, Jesus' brother, James, aswell as others were mentioned in one of the gospels. Much of catholic dogma can be refuted with the bible. That is one reason why the catholic church was oposed to the translation of the bible.

The Church did do a lot to wipe out the Old Religions too and incorporated the festivals into the church to make transition easier I guess
