*has a look of momentary concentration, then his face brightens*

*sets his satchel on the ground, takes his katana out from behind his back and adjusts his grip on his staff*

*struggles to reach his wand and staff, eventually gets them using his feet. Runs his hand over the knife edge of the staff, it glows, and the knife seperates. Tiamat now places his hands on oposite sides of the mace and compresses it back down into a wand and offers them all to Curmanis*

Tiamat, won't you find it a bit hard to fight Avatar with your weapons on the ground?

*A woman in black and a raven slink through the courtyard*

*grimices and reasebles his weapons*

I have to fight him now?

*As the woman passes through A feeling of doom is felt around the courtyard*

We're fighting now? I guess I'd better warm up then.

*sets his katana and staff down and begins stretching to loosen up his muscles*

*looks after the woman in astonishment, then picks himself up, dusts himself off, and stretches*

why?

There is a forcefield covering this area and the Arena, making sure no one can get seriously get injured. You have to let yourselves go, listen not to what logic tells you to do, but what feels right. You both need to practice your fighting if you want to move onto Novice. You may commence when you are ready.

is she going to settle them brutally? and/or with style?

*Tiamat, still sitting, opens his mind, clears it of concious thought, without noticing that he had done so, Tiamat rises, his mace in one hand, his knife tipped staff in the other*

*finishes loosening up and picks up his staff and katana, a small smile on his face as he does so*

Whenever you're ready, Tiamat.

*Tiamat, without thinking, lets loose with a neck level slash from the knife edge of the staff and a knee level swing with his bladed mace*

*Avatar blocks the mace with his staff while ducking under Tiamat's staff and slahes at Tiamat's ribcage with his katana*

*Tiamat deflects the the katana away from his ribcage with the butt of his staff, brings the blade and butt of his staff over his head in an attempt to strike at Avatar's head, while spinning the mace into a moving shield*

*Avatar blocks the staff with his own, but still recieves a glancing blow to his shoulder. Meanwhile, he feints a lumge at Tiamat's shoulder with his katana while attempting to trip him up*

*Tiamat trips, rolls about a meter away, comes to a stop on his belly, and swings the staff one handed, knife point out, at Avatar's knees from his prone position*
