My favourite original band which really got me into music was The Inspiral carpets - superb keyboards, an unusually ugly lead singer and some brilliant songs. They did four fantastic albums, and at the height of their fame during the Madchester scene were quite capable of selling out the G-Mex in Manchester. Yet few people I mention them to have ever heard of them. I saw them last year on a reunion tour and the lead singer, Tom Hingley, was obviously awe struck by the devotion shown by fans years after they had split up.
Another great band, who recorded in my view one of the finest psychedelic guitar albums ever, were Ride. Carnival of Light is without a doubt an absolutely fantastic album.
Oh, and I'm realy into the Kaiser Chiefs and El Presidente at the moment.
