In the UK, cannabis has now been reclassified as a Class C drug rather than Class B. The maximum punishment for possession has been reduced from 5 to 2 years imprisonment (making it an unarrestable offence), and for supplying the max. term of imprisonment has been reduced from 14 to 7 years (although I think the Class C supplying penalty used to be 5 years).
For reference, here are the max. terms of imprisonment for some drug offences in the UK:
Class A (inc. ocaine, heroin, ecastasy): possession-7yrs, supplying-life
Class B (formerly cannabis): p-5yrs, s-14yrs
Class C (cannabis): p-2yrs, s-7yrs
