i actually had this sparks album back in the days. they never really made it over here, and haven't heard anything from them in years. a great review, blues shark, and it's good to hear there's still room for combining musicianship and showmanship (with a bit of humour) in what we loosely call rock-and-roll.

They had a sort of mini-revival on their native west coast in the early 80's - one of the bigger Californian stations had them as one of the three most played bands of the decade.
I've adored Sparks since the late 70's when i stumbled across Kimono in a bargain bin. It's the second time I've seen them live - the first time was voted one of Q magazine's '100 bwest ever gigs', and if anything this time was even better.
(thanks for the kind words btw )

I had a friend in High School named Chris Smith who was the New Wave maven and did album reviews in the school rag.
He introduced me to Sparks and I've never forgotten them.
Nice to know they're still at it!
