What a wide range of music. smiley - smiley I hope we all get stranded on the same island. There are some pretty good Canadian bands around right now. I only have CDs from one, The Tragically Hip. But I listen to the radio a lot. (97.7 HTZ-FM, Southern Ontario's Best Rock) Some good bands are Our Lady Peace, Tea Party, Moist, I Mother Earth, Sarah Mclachlin. smiley - smiley

1. Pet Sounds, The Beach Boys.
Best album in history, no comparison. A smack on the wrist to all researchers who have posted and not included it. Shame on you all.
Again, no particular order for the rest;
2. Live and Dangerous, Thin Lizzy (Anybody out dere got any Oirish in them...?)
3. Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space, Spiritualized
4. The Joshua Tree, U2
5. Boy, U2
6. Exile On Main Street, The Rolling Stones
7. Grace, Jeff Buckley
8. Pablo Honey, Radiohead
9. Live On Two Legs, Pearl Jam
10. Let It Be, The Beatles

I know that's not my real top 10, but it's a pretty good one. All excellent albums, really. And I got hte Beatles in. Phew.

Thanks. Yeah, Beach Boys are good -- but they haven't made it to my personal hitlist. I guess that means you'll have to do some lobbyism to have them rise through the ranks here... smiley - winkeye

(now, of course I don't take bribes......)

And I guess it's also coming towards the time where I seriously should consider doing something about amalgamating the suggested entries into something on the page proper... I'll *try* to have a go at it sometime in the upcoming weekend.

B/R,

SG V

I too am staggered that Pet Sounds hasn't come up more often. No accounting for taste...but here's my attempt to rectify the situation. In no particular order:

1) REM - Automatic for the People
2) Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
3) Wilco - Summerteeth
4) The Beatles - Revolver
5) Paul Simon - Graceland
6) Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin
7) REM - New Adventures in Hi-Fi
8) Radiohead - The Bends
9) The Beatles - Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
10) REM - Up

The more observant of you may have noticed that I like REMsmiley - smiley

I just re-read the thread and noticed that I somewhere further up promised to try to amalgamate all these lovely entries into a "Official List Mk. I" or somthing akin to that.

I still promise!

Honestly, I do!

*pls don't leave word of this to my significant other -- I do think she's got other chores planned for me this weekend smiley - winkeye*

*and NO, please don't ask about the late-saturday-night kind of chores and whether or not they'll influence list compiling smiley - winkeyesmiley - smileysmiley - smiley*

Right off the top of my head then... and in no particular order..

1. Wilco - Being There
2. Pavement - Brighten The Corners
3. Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness
4. David Gray - Flesh
5. Grant Lee Buffalo - Mighty Joe Moon
6. Pearl Jam - Vitalogy
7. Radiohead - The Bends
8. REM - Monster
9. Nirvana - In Utero
10. John Lennon - The Best Of

That was tough... anyway, Wilco fans might like to read and comment on my Guide Entry on the band at http://www.h2g2.com/A390854.

Hopefully I'll get around to writing about Grant Lee Buffalo and David Gray soon, two other unsung heroes of mine.. (okay, David Gray's getting well heard of... but not well known).
