The PFA is celebrating its centenary by asking us, the fans, to pick a team of the century, and as a reward you might win something.

Cantona a midfielder? Right. Makes sense.
I did have my own criteria for this, only use players I remember seeing either live, on telly, or on one of my dads old footy videos. Mainly so I can get away with not picking George Best.
Keeper: Peter Schmeichel
Defenders: Gary Neville, Stuart "Psycho" Pearce, Tony Adams, Jack Charlton.
Midfielders: Gordon Strachan, Johnny Giles, David Batty, Eric Cantona.
Strikers: Alan Shearer , Gary Lineker.

Uffff, a toughie, UK only I assume and I also am only picking from post 1960, I'm also avoiding the current crop largely
GK Peter Schmeichel
Defenders: Alan Hansen, Phil Neal, Bobby Moore, Denis Irwin
Midfield - Graeme Souness, Paul Gascoigne, George Best, Bobby Charlton
Strikers - Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush
Oh no, no liverpool bias at all there...

IF you want to enter you need to read the rules because you MUST choose at least two players from each of the three "eras" (1907-1076, 1977-1996 and 1997-2007).
Also it is about players who have played in the English league - not necessarily all English (where would the list be without all those Scots and Irishmen who have played in the league through the years?)

Well with those 11 behind you and an extra man on the opposition, you might not do too badly.

Still trying to decide on my team but it occurred to that what era would Peter Shilton come under? He started in the sixties and ended up playing for Orient in the nineties or possibly even the noughties!!
Having said that, I can't remember now how they defined the eras

Banks
(reluctantly) Neville, Moore, John Charles, Kenny Sansom
Matthews, Souness, Keane, Giggs,
Dalglish, Greaves
Is Gary Neville really the best right back to play in the English league? Ever?

Best I've ever seen. Even though he's a scummer with a stupid moustache. Mind you, in my book he only just edges out the legendary Gary Kelly, so I may not be in tune with the feelings of the nation.

Roland Nilsonn ......
It was based on consistent performances, not flashes in the pan - I've not seen Ronaldo often enough to say if he a Portugese show pony or a talented player.
All the ones listed I saw repeatedly produce great performances.
