Blooming profanity filter....
I got done for "alluding" to a swear word the other day. But to be fair Derek did kindly re-instate my post when he had a butchers at it.

That's pathetic. Honestly. What I want to know is who's the one reporting it? Anyone got a problem with 'flipping'? If you do, stay out of the Pinball Fan Club.
Anyway what I said was:
<Quote>
Well, that's not ruined my day as much as the CL final will on Wednesday, but
that was absoloutley dire for a showpiece final between the two top teams in
England. And now Jonathan (flipping) Pearce is on the pitch. Still, it was mostly (Ploppity Plop Plop).
Wembley looks impressive but seemed VERY quiet for a final. Whether that's the
acoustics, the TV or the high quantity of shellfish based bread snacks remains
to be seen.
It was two teams I hate, and only one lost, so that was pants.
The only goal was average except for Drogba's pass to Lampard, but it's going to
be replayed forever.
The only minor controversy was Giggs' "goal" which even if it was over the line
would have been a foul anyway, so there's no "what if?"

I agree with most of what you said... (apart from the bit about the CL final, obviously... ), but I would say it was difficult to tell regarding the atmosphere being quiet. TV hardly ever does a good job of recreating the volume at a match.
Oh, and I can think straight away of two worse FA Cup Finals in the last 12 years.

Hmm, maybe I should rephrase what I said - I don't think TV does a good job of recreating the atmosphere at the largest grounds.

Which 2 would they be?

Arsenal v Man Utd a few years ago that went to penalties; dull game, and even though Utd lost in the shoot-out I wasn't happy.
And the infamous "white suit" final (1996?) - that was one of the dullest games I've ever seen (and my team lost too, which I suppose didn't help).

I ont think the Arsenal Man U final was worse, bu it was equally dull.

this could happen every year now
if chelsea and utd keep winning everthing
its up to arsenal and liverpool and the rest
to stop them
also that final with arsenal v utd
man utd were the better team on the day
there should have won it in 90 mins

Welcome to modern football. The four haves battle it out for silverware while the 88 have-nots either content themselves with scraps or go bankrupt trying to compete.

I watched the Cup Final yesterday and the Conference play-off final today, and Morecambe v. Exeter was way more entertaining. The soul of can still be found, but sometimes you have to look below the stale battles between the biggest brands to find it.
And by the way - well done Morecambe. That's an away trip I'd really like to do next season!

Number Six Posted May 21, 2007
On Friday night, I witnessed an absolutely fantastic game of football, probably the best I've ever seen - Yeovil Town - 2-0 down on aggregate from the home leg, and 1-1 on the night with 10 minutes to go - took Forest to extra time and came through to win 5-2.
It had absolutely everything as a spectacle - the facebook page of the editor of the Yeovil fanzine currently reads that he's wondering how he managed to get through it without spontaneously combusting.
So I dragged myself out of bed at five to three for what I'm old-fashioned enough to think of as the highlight of the season, and ended up wishing I hadn't bothered. Mind you, finals between two big teams are usually pretty dire - remember that Liverpool v Man Utd one in the nineties, which was absolutely godawful until Cantona scored.
Is it only a symptom of being 32 that I can remember all the cup finals from the 80s and a couple from the 90s and not much after that? Or were they genuinely better games?
Definitely seemed on Saturday that each side had only a couple of players capable of actually doing something and scoring - but maybe that's indicative of Mourinho's ability to win a game by stifling it tactically.
Anyway, I'm off to Wembley with Yeovil Town - and yes, my knees have gone all trembly...

It might not be a symptom of your age Six, there could be another factor.
"It's all very well talking about boring, boring Chelski, but has anyone noticed that every FA Cup final that features ManYoo is dull enough to make you stab your eyes out?"
I think F365 found that other factor. Lets ban ManYoo from the FA Cup!
