A Conversation for Temporal Paradoxes

Including one called 'Memories.' It's about a man who receives a time belt on his 21st birthday, and goes about using it in various nefarious hilarious ways... Eventually he ends up living in a house with several hundred versions of himself from different time periods, some young, some old, some positively ancient. It's actually rather a sad novel - but a good one, and required reading for anybody talking about temporal paradoxes.

It's too bad you couldn't insert a comment about the Trousers of Time. I always liked that bit from Night Watch.

Odd... but didn't Larry Niven write just such a story called "The Man Who Folded Himself"?

Wouldn't surprise me... isn't that the one with the old guy giving the belt to the young guy?

Just read Corridors of Time, by Poul Anderson.

Great writer. I'm glad he's still cranking out novels. He is still alive and writing, isn't he?

Tell me how how "Corridors of Time" is shaping up so far...

It was good! A bit dated... I think it was written in the mid-seventies. I had just re-read Millenium, by John Varley - every chapter is a title of a different time-travel story. So I thought I'd go looking for time-travel stories... Like "All You Zombies," etc. I love used bookstores.

And I'm not sure if he's still kicking around or not... Google to the rescue!

I know this is ancient history, but I wanted to be "right" about the author. So...
