There was due to be a tube strike today, but it's been called off. I'm not aware of any other dates for future strikes having been announced.

I'll bring some bread rolls... probably... need to beat up... mean chat up the bakery people... and beer... I'll bring beer.... or stout... or ... depending on how much cash I got I just realised somethign awful; the meet is the 10 July? I've going to be traveling up to Bristol for the start of the course the day after cheese, we'l want cheese... and beer... and bread... and things... and I'll have my new oven fitted next week, so I could bake some something... cheese straws anyone? (I think I remember how to make them) How about we 'theme' this meet? say a 'no alcohol' meet? Oh, never mind

Colonel Creachy wants to bring a frisby. I said that should be OK? Although I predict mass chaos should several arrive!
2Legs, can you add the 1pm meet at the bandstand to the front page (when you get a working computer that is!).

I went to London at the weekend, and I went to Hyde Park so now I know where the bandstand is!
Is everyone bringing a contribution to the picnic?

I believe so, I shall have to think of something. Treacle Tart or summats, just right for a blazing hot summers afternoon in the park

Oi, 2Legs?! You gonna put the time and location for the Hyde Park meet on the main page? Or you still got 'puter problems?

Puter has returned from teh hospital, but its not working yet, as we need to install a million and forty-two drivers on it to get it working on the net and then install all teh software, and reinstall the scanners and printers and stuff should get it working by the weekend Should we start getting together a rough idea of what food peoples are bringing, so we don't end up with a million and 1 bread rolls and nothing else I might* have a go at doing some baking before the meet as I'm getting a workin** oven tomorrow! who fancies salmonella pie?
Afternoon Activities
IctoanAWEWawi Posted Jun 16, 2004
possibly. I was more worried that there only appear to be half a dozen or so people on this thread and that the Hyde Park afternoon meet might be a bit of a wash out. Perhaps we should drive to get numbers and then work out the food?

Good idea, Ictoan.
Also, just a thought, don't know if it's any good...how about creating a list of items for the picnic, then people can volunteer to bring them - kinda like picking items off a wedding list? And, just like a wedding, I'm sure people will bring things that aren't on the list but at least we can try to make sure all the basics are covered.

I have yet to make a wardrobe decision, as this will be based on weather conditions at the time.
If it's *really* hot, I may frighten the horses and fellow researchers by exposing my legs! Run now, whilst you still have a chance!

I'll probably have to wear trousers, rather than shorts, otherwise there'l be nowhere to put the badgers...

Serephina Posted Jun 16, 2004
maybe there could be a seperate page for whose bringing what for the picnic? starting with a list of the basics to be picked from..not frgetting things like plastic cups and bottles of water of course!
