You can also walk, I walked to Hyde Park from Euston station last year. Took me about 45 mins I think, but I am a fast walker!

Lizzbett Posted May 17, 2004
Thanks peeps. I've been to London loads of times before, but I've never been to Hyde Park. I'll probably get the tube because it amuses me. I can ride on a bus any old time.

So, who is going to be at the bandstand and at what time to meet everyone? Not me cos I can't guaruntee my arrival time!

"Does anyone have a Hootoo flag or banner that can be rallied round?"
Jamie's beard usually does the trick...

A Super Furry Animal Posted May 17, 2004
Perhaps. But until I went to my first meet, I didn't know what Jamie's beard looked like. Plus, there's always the possibility of accosting a complete stranger with similar beard...nah, scrub that idea! It'll never happen!
Is everyone who's coming a seasoned veteran, or are there any "meet virgins" on the list?

*sudden influx of lurkers waiting to see who admits to being a meet virgin*

Right, well, that didn't quite work (all RF's fault if you look at the backlog) so i shall attempt to force the creation of a 'plan' again (especially since people have been asking!).
Who will be at the bandstand in Hyde Park and at what time?
Is this even the best place to meet? And how will we identify who we are to those who haven;t been to a meet / seen the piccies of us to recognise us?
I aim to be at the bandstand between midday and 1pm. But, it sounds like there may be a train strike that day so I *really* cant guaruntree my arrival.

Mea culpa.
Unfortunately (!) I'm going to see a band in a pub on Friday evening, so the chances of me even being *awake* by midday are slim!
No, I'll be there, but can't guarantee a time as yet.
I think the bandstand was chosen as it was a rcognisable place that is well sign-posted throughout the park.

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side... Posted Jun 9, 2004
If we can find a pole I can climb to the top and drink beer as suggested, seems logical to me Well, hopefully, it will be a warmish* day, so a fair few I imagine will be displaying H2G2 tee shirts, I might even wear mine (for the first time) As yet I've no idea of arrival time, Is there any pubs near hyde park, that are near the bandstand end? It might be easier for the first few to meet up somewhere like that and then move on to the bandstand in time for the other arrivals? I can't get too much done at the moment as my computer is having a new harddrive put in it, and potentially the Motherboard replaced this laptop is damn useless... time to buy a new one... anyone want a few years old rather slow toshiba laptop? has CD ROM floppy drive, ethernet card, modum, win 98 office professional? well, was worth a go Come on folks!: hurry up and organize ourselves... I know* I'm ment* to be 'organising'* the meet.... but I'm 'administrating'* it inreality...

Wel personally I was rrather looking forward to basking in the sunshine on a sunny summers saturday afternoon admiring the scenery
Can I veto the pub idea on the grounds that if you start in there you'll probably not make the park till about 5:55pm ?
Any other park attendees express a preference?

I'm all for meeting at the bandstand (nice girls don't walk into pubs on their own - and neither do I!) and I hope I have looked at enough hootoo pictures to be able to recognise at least a couple of people. I thought someone mentioned 2pm as a time several posts back. That sounds reasonable to me.

good good, just wondering if anyone wants to make it earlier? I realise there will be pre-meets and stuff going on but thought I'd ask anyway as we were sorta planning a picnic and no doubt folks will want to off to the pub around 6-7pm?

I'd happily meet earlier if others wanted to, but I think 2pm is probably early enough for the people who are going on to the pub later.
