Help! There is an iMac living in my house and I don't quite know how to convince it that going online is a good idea. Is there anyone out there who knows about this sort of thing??

I thought Macs had user friendly dialers like windows, or at Least my Uncles OS 8.5 Machine did.

You are quite right. There should be no problem. "Box to Internet in 10 minutes" is the usual boast.

Actually, I had an iMac. Briefly.

Oh, thank you, but I think it's sorted out now. Human error. I'm hooking up to a free internet service and that, apparently, is more fun than a barrel of monkeys. It and I are just getting to know each other, after all.

iMac's are more fun than a barrel of monkeys, not like I've ever seen one of those, however. Has anyone ever?

Anywho, my biggest problem with mine is that, for some strange reason known only to it, it thinks that the printer (run on a USB cable) and the INTERNAL modem are sharing a port. So I have to uninstall the printer every time I go online, even if it's not hooked up at the time. Anyone ever heard of that little conundrum?

What sort of printer do you have? Are the drivers the very latest available from the manufacturers site? Try removing some or all of the Mac USB extensions (called USB A, B, C and D) and restarting.

If that fails, try running your printer through a hub. Belkin is a good make.
