A Conversation for The Hitchhikers Hotel
The Beach
Vestboy Posted Jun 9, 2004
*Heads off with the sun at their backs looking for interesting things*
That's an unusual piece of wood. I wonder where that came from?

*points at a tree behind him laughing*
Maybe there....
*she walks further along the beach and picks up a shining shell*
Look at this

*As Vestie looks at the shell his face reflects the beautiful blue light radiating from it. He feels drawn into the shell and it grows to completely envelop him. Within the shell he can see a small village with a maypole and dancers in gaily coloured costumes frolicing around the pole carrying their ribbons. Their apparent unco-ordinated movement causes the ribbon to form beautiful patterns of multicoloured plaiting round the pole. A jolly man with a bushy moustache and battered hat plays an accordian to accompany the dancers while a tall thin man bangs a drum with an old stick to keep the rhythm.*
Where did you find this?!

Just here...
*she looks down at the beach and spots another shell in exactly the same place, this one reflects green light*
*she picks it up and looks into it, there are endless fields of green with some cornfields, it is a beautiful day and a river is wionding lazily through the fields*
Wow...

Waves back....
Loves the feeling of the sand under her feet, and the cool water..
The waves are particularily scintillating today, I think?

*Pulls himself out of the blue shell. Feels really great for the experience*
*Looks up the beach and waves to Gadarene who seems to be enjoying the good weather. Sees that Ena still has the green shell and wanders over.*
I think I can see a yellow one over here.

*takes the green shell out of her pocket*
What do you see in the yellow one?

Stand next to me so that we can look together.
*lifts yellow shell and the glow begins to light them both. The scene expands to surround them with a perfect summer's day at the beach. Children play in the sand with buckets and spades making huge sandcastles. Stalls selling candyfloss and ice cream are dotted here and there and a Punch and Judy show is in full swing with little children giggling and squealing at the antics. Donkeys carry children up and down the beach and kites skitter across the sky. A roundabout's steam organ plays a merry song while the horses rise and fall in their endless circles. Vestie and Ena wait for the ride to stop and climb onto adjacent horses. The music takes up a jolly polka and the horses begin their circular journey. Children and adults wave at the riders who wave back. the ride is over almost before it has begun and they both clamber off. The golden glow withdraws and they find themsleves on the sand HHH beach with the shell resting carefully on a rock.

Wow...*she breathes deeply and is shocked to discover she is holding Vestie's hand, she lets it go quickly*
Wasn't that amazing?
