Well, you were on the right track - it is a pretty old film (though it had a more recent version too).
And I have to ask - why don't you write some entries about all these places? They sound wonderful! *Inserts plug for the Geographical Entry Society: A1286886 *

Funny, I was just lurking on your personal space.
So I take it it's not "Funny Girl"?
I'm too lazy to submit anything official again. Right now I have some time but in a few weeks new classes will start and then I'll be CRAZY busy so I prefer just putting blurbs in here. Besides, I want the peeps in MoTMV to actually have something real to discuss, should they ever choose so to do, and it bumps our post total.

No, nothing Barbara Streisand.
Another clue: The new version (which wasn't the one I had in mind actually) has Mel Brooks in it.
And I really do think this is interesting - which is why I'd have loved to see it in an entry.

I agree, nothing Barbara Streisand.
Okay...Mel Brooks REMADE and/or is in a REMAKE of a classic....
...well, other than SpaceBalls and Young Frankensein I'm not big on Mel Brooks. However, I do remember there being some news about him remaking an old Lubitsch (sp?) film.
To be or Not to be?
And thanks for the support but you can see my entries here...and so can evryone else...and add to our post total.
And that way I can be inacurate if I feel like and don't actually have to research anything.

And Haikeeba got it right! To Be or Not to Be! That's a great film. The remake wasn't by Mel Brooks, but he was in it (I don't think I've seen it but I found it when I was checking IMDb to see I remembered the quote right). Your turn!

Is that what it was? I'm sure I've seen it but it would have been years ago. An old film teacher of mine was big on Lubitsch. I'll check it out again if I ever get the opp.
So...Let's see...Here we go:

Not as such, no. And before you get started again, it's not from Star Wars either.

Nope. And nope. It does, however, have indians in it. But real ones, not animated ones.

Dancing With Wolves? Little Big Man? That's the only ones with Indians-also-known-as-Native-Americans I can think of...

Noooooo...
HOWEVER, since you're so swell Tim, I will use your last post as a link to another hint.
There is a connection, however slight, between Dances With Wolves and this movie.

God no, not LOTM.

God no...
Mark Twain wrote some damn funny stuff about Fennimore Cooper B.T.W.

Ah geez sir...
Hmm, a slight connection between movie X, featuring Indians, and Dances With Wolves, also featuring Indians...
Right, I have no idea.
