Very interesting link. I had no idea their history was so bloody. 'Course, everybody's history is bloody...
Oddly enough, the current Dalai Lama's brother lives in Bloomington, Indiana, about an hour-and-a-half drive west of where I live, out in the middle of the corn and soybean fields. Bloomington has a thriving Tibetan Buddhist community. And because one good link deserves another: http://www.ganden.org/

I used to live in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
When I lived in Austin, there was a bunch of everything out near Cedar Park: Greek monks, Tibetans, B'hai, and a few Mennonites, the reform kind that ride motorcycles with no chrome...

But it'd take a lot to get me to live in the Midwest again. But, if it's not in the People's Republic of Illinois, I'd consider it more carefully.

Well, I've decided that Ohio's main selling point is that, no matter how bad it gets, it's always worse somewhere else. Hard to build an advertising campaign around it, though...
