I'm not a sub-ed, but I'd say you have the makings of a fine artcle for submission. If you're busily working at it, you might consider submitting now and finishing while they're getting caught up to you.

Thank you. ::blushes:: I think I will do just that. I want to put a good week's work atleast into this article, and perhaps more for revisions after that. I am still compiling research, and I plan to have a good list of puns at the bottom of the article.

Anonymouse Posted Dec 18, 1999
*grins* ... You might consider entering it into a fun run... I'm sure there are plenty of punsters lurking in the shadows here at h2g2 that would be more than happy to add to your list.
Nice article..
Ender Wiggin Posted Dec 18, 1999
Once I am done with the meat of the article I will surely do that. Thank you for the encouragement!

You should check it out now. It's much closer to a finished article then when you saw it.

I agree with Nonny It is a very good article.....submit it immediately! The wait for approval is still about 18 weeks atm!
With regards to running it as a Post article.....for obvious reasons it is way too long...unfortunately!...but....if you have time.....you could certainly pick just one of the subjects....coupled with some examples.....that way.....you could contribute something every week!
A good Post article should capture the reader fairly quickly...keep him/her interested....and leave them happy to have read it
You have some very amusing examples which others may not have seen!
What do you think? Would you like a go at it?...It wouldn't be until next year though..we are trying to run a fairly slimmed down version for next week....and taking a rest the week after

I can probably think of 20 different forms of word play, so after 20 weeks I'd have to back and do others... The article could just be on different styles of writing styles or tools each week.
Nice article..

Exactly! As you receive more from new contributors you sould find that you had more then enough to keep you going! So,I take it that you are game then?? You can either send it from the *submit article*
box,or email it straight to me.The address is on my home page. Do you have icq btw? It makes life so much simpler if you have!

Good, article, or at least what I could see. Unfortuanatley the picture at the top floats over the text. This is probably just because I'm using a tiny monitor (640x480 max!) but it should be considered.
The content is great, I've only browsed through, but I liked what I saw, I admit that I was half expecting it to be full of quotes of dodgy puns, like all the infamous fish puns, but there is more there, it's got content rather than just lists.
I've got to disagree with the submitting now, and then working on it untill the SubEds (me included) catch up. The wait at the mo is around about 16 weeks, but is set to fall drastically in January with the introduction of two new editors at the Towers, whose job is to do nothing but work on reducing the waiting list. Because of that I'd say finish it first, then submit it. One thing that it saddens me to see in a batch that I get to edit, is a half finished article. Some writers intend to get it finished before we get around to it, but for one reason or another they never quite manage it.

I am rarely on ICQ. However, I will email you. If you can get me some info on guidelines for submission (length of article, deadline, format, etc.) I will be more than happy to start on an article for the Post!

All of my pictures float over text unless my browser window is maximized. I don't know why that is. I could use the HTML tag, but I thought the editors would prefer GuideML Picture tags for consistency on their site.

Currently the guideline for SubEds on pictures is "Take them out." This is down to a couple of things, reliability of other peoples servers and the biggy of copyright. For that reason, I'd suggest that you don't rely on the picture to hold the article up. By all means include them in user pages, but as things stand at the moment it'll be removed if the article gets approved status.

Generally...the length of the article depends on the subject matter!
Try not to make it too long.....500 words is about right. Deadlines...well...we are trying to set Thursday( here in the uk) evening for that! This gives the editors some time to check the article over before the final edit on Sunday In your case that would be fine. For more topical articles (for example the news from the towers) then we have to try and work with that when it comes in!
Any more questions..please email me from the link on the Post

Shazz, my dear.. Thought it's quite likely true you won't be -sleeping- during that time, there are -some- things that are best experienced with full capacities.
