A Conversation for Talking Point: TV Imports
"Neverwhere" by Neil Gaiman

Several years ago when I was writing here on H2G2 about how I enjoyed the London Tube on my visit from the US, someone suggested I try "Neverwhere" by Neil Gaiman. This is a fantasy set mostly in "London Below", with many references to Tube locations. So I ordered it from Amazon UK, two videocassettes with 196 minutes, "The Major BBC2 Series". I had to get it converted fom PAL format, but it was well worth it. Clearly a relatively low budget production, but good writing can sure make up for a lack of special effects.
Bad guy: "We'll get off at the British Museum Tube Station."
Hero: "There is no British Museum Station."
Bad guy: "There's not? Then we better be careful getting off!"
First assassin: "If they prick us, do we not bleed?"
Second assassin: "No, we don't."
OK, it's not a network TV export (AFAIK), but it should be.

Hey, I read the book Neverwhere in the US about two years ago and never knew it was a show in London! Cool, although I don't think i'll ever see it until i actually go to London. Oh well. Still, a great story!
