..this does sound idyllic, doesn't it? Waiting for all those things to rotten, I mean... what a pity I'm living in a flat
Speaking of living in a flat, I was recently surprised by a red onion which shot out these green things after just one sunny winter's day (mea culpa, I should have kept it in a dark cupboard).
Just for fun, I put it into a cup of water, and in no time at all it has sprouted roots - lots of them! Eh - so what do I do now? Plant it in a pot? And if so, then what will it do next? *looks at onion with some suspicion*

Onions have pretty blooms. Plant it in a pot and tell people it is an exotic allium.
I'm not sure I could handle apartment life any more. I really enjoy my garden.

I think I *will* plant it in a pot - it looks so very much *alive* with those bright green sprouts and those white roots...

Oh yes do Titania
Some of favourite flowers (back when I had a garden) were ornamental allium - very pretty clusters of small white flowers.

Aaah Alliums, the really dark purple small headed ones are my most favourite, but always in someone else's vase...they do stink! Great column Mrs Cranky. Was thinking that I may attempt an early gardening day this weekend then the rain set in again...hey ho. I still have geraniums flowering in one bed, extraordinary. The lawn is waterlogged and a good cean up of mother natures composting is required...we shall see what the weather brings.
Take care

We have nothing flowering at the moment - except inside where the poinsetias are still lovely. I found a double one this year. I'd never seen one before.
