Circle Caretaker and General Flunky

Probably everyone, at one point or another, has written a poem. Even people who have never written anything else of a creative nature. Perhaps it was a school assignment. Perhaps a mushy rhyme on a Valentine or a bit of grafitto on a wall.

Poetry allows us to express things about ourselves and about the human condition that we would feel awkward revealing in prose or conversation. Poetry can make us laugh or make us cry. It can inspire us, comfort us, enrage us. Whatever it does, it makes us think.

There are many poets on h2g2. If you have a completed poem you would like to share or a work in progress that you would like to discuss, then please feel free to post it here.

"...The word alone sizzles like boiling acid, moans like molten lead, but ah my dear, it leaves the lips in such a sweetly murmuring hum." Narcissism by C. K. Williams

I haven't written anything new for a while. (Ok, haven't finished anything new for a while.) When I do, I shall post it here first. smiley - smiley But I'll start us off with one I wrote years and years ago for my mom. I don't think this one has been posted anywhere on h2g2 before.

"My Mother's Garden"

When hyacinths poke throught he ground
You know at last it's spring;
The lilacs bloom, the bees take flight,
And calls of songbirds ring -
In my mother's garden.

While begonias and impatiens
Fill summer days with bloom,
The scent of roses fills the night
Daisies dance beneath the moon -
In my mother's garden.

Autumn brings gold chrysanthemums,
Red maples, rusty oaks;
Apples ripen; walnuts fall;
The air is filled with smoke -
In my mother's garden.

The spruce alone keeps its color
When winter's cold arrives;
Tracks surround the bird feeders,
The hope of spring survives -
In my mother's garden.

Touching us

Touching beyond time and space
The mind bends to the soul.
Celebrations of limitlessness
Where waking means embracing
And sleeping dances between the stars
Tripping and skipping hand in hand
To where love lies, everywhere.
Edgeless communication, smiles,
Tears, embraces of beings who
Lost the fear of being.....

I'm not sure about 'limitlessness' it doesn't read fluidly enough. Boundlessness might work better, or something else. Beyond time and space is a bit cliched, which is not the best way to start, especially as the rest of the poem avoids that really well and is nicley fluid.

Oh, and I really love the last line.
