-When you look in the mirror, do you like what you see?
Yes.
- Who would you describe as beautiful?
Cameron Diaz.
Juliette Binoche.
Jennifer Connelly.
My girlfriend.
-Is beauty in the eye of the beholder?
Yes. But there are nevertheless certain standards which most can agree on. Can't imagine anyone considering Cameron Diaz a minger, for instance. Equally, I think someone like, say, Bea Arthur would appeal to only a rather specialist minority, even in her younger days.
- Do you think we place too much emphasis on looks these days?
No. As Dogbert observed, "Inner beauty is irrelevant. It's what's outside that counts." To which Dilbert replied "I never knew you were such a philosopher." To which Dogbert, brilliant, responded - "EXACTLY!".
- What do you consider to be your best and worst features?
My best feature is my voice. My worst feature is my very, very slowly increasing gutbucket.
- Would you rather date someone ugly with a personality, or someone good-looking with no personality?
Date? As in, go out for dinner then boff? The looker, definitely. Date, as in potentially spend the rest of my life with? Slightly more difficult, but I'd probably still go for the looker and get intellectual stimulation elsewhere.
Put it another way - which would you rather be? A good looking person whose partner gets their intellectual needs met by someone else? Or a minger whose partner screws around?
- Do you think we need more programmes like Ugly Betty on television, which don't feature a glamorous protagonist?
No. If I want to see ugly people I can walk down the street. I want escapism on TV. That means true love, space ships, and everyone being gorgeous.
- Does beauty always equate with happiness?
Yes. Next question.
- What one thing would you change about the way you look, if you had the chance?
I'd replace my slightly (very slightly) portly middle with some rockhard washboard abs. Other than that, I'm entirely happy with my physical state.
