Dodged a bullet there!
Well, the name does suggest how many people would be using it, but that would be obvious, so I'm not saying it!

Ah, but half the point of QI is not saying the first that jumps into your head, because it's probably a klaxon!

Not reading backlogs, are we, logicus???
geggs has already identified a 'multi-occupancy bicycle'
In two minds now whether to klaxon typewriter 'little bar that contains the 'impressed letters'.......
As letters on the NOT impressed but stand proud, I think you have earned a klaxon!!!
There you go, logicus. -5

Okay, tempting a klaxon here, but I'm 6 points up already on this one so I'll go for it.
Who would use it? The Goodies.

Presumably, the "obvious" answer is that number between 4 and 6 to which the word quint is usually applied.
However, what if it refers to the number of wheels? A bicycle, with 2 wheels, has 1 rider; a tandem, with 3 wheels, has 2 riders, and so on. Using the formula
number of riders=(number of wheels-1)
and assuming that the quint part of the answer refers to the number of wheels, I conclude that 4 people would ride it.
There. Now give me a .

Nope. Quint- is five, so a five-wheeled cycle would seat four people. QED.

Geggs Posted Sep 9, 2010
And typically the latin prefix indicates the number wheels, rather than the seats. Bicycle - 2 wheels, tricycle - 3 wheels, and yet both of these have one seat.
Why should a quint be any different? It should, by rights, refer to the number of wheels, and not the number of seats.

Well, someone had to, or we would get nowhere. Even Taff was steering clear of saying it!
