A weapon of war was only used in anger once..
What was the weapon?
When was it used?
Where was it used?
No Wiki or Google. Books OK!
Take care!!!
Enjoy!!!

It was used only once, and it was in anger? Or was it used only once in anger, but plenty of times calmly?
A mechanical device? Something alive (like a cow thrown onto people sieging a castle)?

except, I suspect it was never actually used - lots of trials, but...

The choice has got to be the...I'm not going to say it.
But it was used twice (albeit both times were close together, both in timing and in location).

It helps a bit. Is it something which is usually not used in conflict, except that one time? Bagpipes maybe?

The Mary Rose was never used in anger at all Deadangel. It sank shortly after being launched!!

The bouncing bomb, designed by Barnes Wallis, was only used operationally once on a raid against dams in the Ruhr Valley in, I think, 1944. The problem with it was that the flight crews required a lot of specialist training, but because they had to fly so low to deploy the bombs, a lot of them got shot down.

That's what I was (cryptically) getting at. But that would be twice.

Rod - didn't the Panjandrum have a tendency to go round in circles?

Post 11 toybox. Not Bagpipes. I know for a fact that Bagpipes were used by the Scots many times!!
Post 13 hd . Not Bouncing Bomb. There were four used per dam, I believe.
Post 14 Teasswill. Somebody had to trip it. TWO were used, two targets. A-Bomb = -5
