Is it something to do with some special and highly individual properities that this specific chariot has? Or something common to all chariots, but being a god, the owner got another god to help?

Polishing the Chariot? (a nice wax brings out the shine).

It is not specific to this particular chariot.
None of the suggestions are correct so far.

So its something that Hebe does for Hera, which could be done to any chariot?
Checking the harnesses? Mending the harnesses?
Driving it for Hera? Delivering it to Hera?

Not really maintenance as such, more something that one had to do before using a Greek chariot.

Ok then Thomas Masterman Hardy HMS Victory late of HMS Hebe (a very wild guess), there was no Hebe in Nelsons postings but he was on the HMS Agamemnon Nelson loved that ship, a very famous ship is that any closer.
