Did Robert Peel split the Tories that year? Something to do with free trade? Was he a Manchester Liberal or something? I think big cities got a fairer proportion of MPs because of the Reform Act, and rotten boroughs got abolished.

Scores for last lot!!
Post 18 Keith. Nothing to do with Reform Act. Earl Grey Tea may have a bearing on the solution though!!!
Post 19 pebbledrook. Nothing whatsoever to do with Teddy Bear's Picnic. I did indicate that MH's Tea Party was marginally closer to getting to the solution only!!!
Post 20 ekky. George Fox and the Quakers.....GF would have admired our man, maybe...However 1650s much too early. We already know the year to be 1832...(Post 13)
Post 21. Rings a bell does Robert Peel!!! However, Reform Act and Free Trade do not come into this QI!!

Lewis Caroll was he born around 1832 and at some stage he became a member of a political party or was Earl Gray's party formed into a new entity or something like that?

So it's a party being held in 1832 and someones gatecrashed it (oh, I hope I didn't steal a klaxo from Taff) or it's a party being held to celebrate something that happened in 1832 in GB, but it has nothing to do with the reform bill but is vaguely connected to tea.
A particular town perhaps holding this party?

Gatecrasher is a -5 I'm afraid...
It is not a 'party' as such. It is ALL parties our man wanted to spoil...
Not a celebration, as explained above..
Tea is definitely a clue!
Post 35 Taff!!
Hellfire Club? , though our man had a 'club' that could be said to be the exact opposite!!!
Post 36 Taff.
Alaister Crowley.....No!
