to steal the hat pins they had broken into a ladies boudoir, and that is totaly unnacepable, as it can damage a ladies reputation

Was the hatpin specifically a capital offence, whereas eg. cufflinks or bracelets might not have been?

An old law from the 11th Century, about which the Brits of this time used to make much fun. A bit like what you can find there:

The best hatpins from that era were so elaborate and expensive to produce, that stealing them was deemed a Capital Offence.

Had to go back and read rule 10.
There's a bit in one of Spike Milligan's war memoirs where he recalls getting really annoyed with his fellow soldiers. They were driving through the North African desert, there was nothing for miles and miles around, and everyone insisted on peeing up the wheels of their truck.

It is forbidden to die in any British royal palace a privalage reserver for royals only. Parliament is still the palace of Westminster. Anyone who is thoughtless enough to pass on is deemed to simply be seriously ill untill thay leave the palace, whereupon they die when they enter the real world.
Therefore in theory
1. imortality (technical only) can be acheived if you stay and stay in a palace providing you dont clutter the plce up.
2. you could be liable for income tax post mortem.
Key: Complain about this post
