Yes well. - the funny thing is you did a hop, skip and a jump there, because the 26 objects were all inventions (I've no idea if they've all got patents), which is what out mysterious squash players were doing in the garden shed: inventing.

I'm guessing this must have been scientists? Did he think that their habit of sharing their findings was endangering Truth, Justice and so on? There must have been all sorts of patentable stuff cropping up as the bomb was being developed, which would normally have been a matter of public record, and could theoretically point someone in the right direction.
