Simon Bates a radio 1 dj at the time had a slot called our tune in which he would read out a story of a listener about an emotional time in their life, usually ending in tragedy and in the background would be playing the love theme from Romeo and Juliet, from the Franco Zeffirelli film Romeo and Juliet

this is still done by Jo Wiley/Sarah Cox, although i dont know if the background music is the same every day, the feature is known as "Changing Tracks"

no mini the background music is not the same
but i did not know about changing tracks as i stopped listening to R1 about 9 years ago

wasn't he "retired" off Radio One because the then controller thought Smashie and Nicey was based on him and they decided the old guard hhad to go because they were becoming a joke?
